As you probably
know, alarm signals from most security systems are transmitted to Alarm
Company Central Stations over the phone lines. If your phone line was to
be cut or tampered with, it could affect the ability of your system to
properly transmit an alarm signal. Over 99% of all alarm systems in the
United States transmit their signals in this way. However, over the past
few years, burglars have become more aware of this fact and often cut
phone lines before they break in. In most cases, a "cut phone line"
condition can not be detected. But, the fact remains that even if the
line is cut, and detected, an actual alarm signal still can not
be transmitted. And, the police can not be dispatched just because a
"cut phone line" has been detected.
Now for the good
news!:
We, at Colorado
Security Alarm, in conjunction with our Central Station, have completed
the installation of an Extremely High Security Radio Reporting System.
With this system, phone lines actually become the secondary method of
transmission. The system was originally developed for the military for
their communications. However, it quickly became apparent that it could
provide a highly reliable and sophisticated method of transmitting alarm
signals to a Central Monitoring Station.
A few other alarm
companies in our area also have radio systems available to their
subscribers. But, UNLIKE our system, theirs' is much different
and much less secure than our system. In their system(s), one-way
transmitters are installed at the subscriber's premises. When an
alarm is transmitted, it is sent from the subscribers' radio, to the
Central Station, via a repeater, which is generally located in a high
location above the covered area. Unfortunately, if that company's
repeater ever fails, or is disabled, their entire radio system fails.
But, OUR
system is entirely different! Unlike our competitor's system,
we utilize a 2-way radio at every subscriber's location. By setting
up the system this way, our Central Station equipment can have 2-way
conversations with each subscribers' radio; constantly
checking the system status, and supervising the integrity of each and
every subscriber radio. Additionally, each subscriber radio in the
system also becomes a repeater for all other radios in the system, and
visa-versa. Therefore, each radio in the system can have, and actually
"learns" multiple paths to and from our Central Station. If one path is
interrupted or disabled, another path is instantly selected and
utilized. And, as more and more subscribers become part of the radio
system network, the number of radio paths from any given radio, to the
Central Station increases. The average time in which it takes to
transmit an alarm by radio is only one second. Therefore, response time
can also be greatly reduced.
The average cost
for the installation of a radio burglar system is approximately $400.00. (The
actual cost of your installation can vary, depending on the type of
antenna that you would need and the complication of your installation) I
am the first one to admit that this is a rather high price. However, I
would like you to know that this price represents OUR COST of the
equipment. We are not making any profit on the sale and installation
of the equipment. Additionally, we charge (in addition to your
regular monitoring cost) $10.00 a month for the monitoring of the radio
system.
We are very
excited about this system, as well as its capabilities, and the security
that it will offer you.
